Pearson Test of English General (PTE General) is designed to reward positive achievement in English language learning. It is computer based test that measures a students’ ability by testing their level of English through tasks which reflect real-life settings and situations.
PTE General consists of two parts:
1. Written Paper – The written paper tests listening, reading comprehension and writing skills and is marked by external examiners in the UK.
2. Spoken Test – The spoken test is assessed by trained local examiners and is sent to the UK for moderation.
There are six levels which are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF). All levels in the test are awarded by Edexcel and accredited by Ofqual in the UK.
- PTE General Certificates do not expire. English language learners are encouraged to seek opportunities to practice the language and confirm their progress regularly.
- The scores awarded for the tests at each level are Distinction, Merit, Pass or Fail
- PTE Academic is a 3 hour test and has 3 parts.
- Levels 4 and 5 are designed for young people aged 17+
PTE fee in India is INR 9350 (If you book within 48 hours of your test date, a late booking fee will be applied and the test price will be INR 11,687.50)
